How much did you spend on your Xmas shop?

I was just wondering how much we all spent on our 'Christmas week food shop' compared to a normal weeks shop.

I spent £86 (including 4 bottles of wine) for the Xmas shop compared to the normal/average £45 (including 1 bottle of wine) I spend on other weeks.

In previous years I have spent around £200 on the Xmas shop, so I have done quite well this year. Cupboards, freezer and fridge are all still full of food but with home made produce and "practical" foods rather than lots of processed junk. :T

  • Normal Spend about £80 a week but spent £100 Christmas week... I had been getting tins of biscuits, crackers etc the past few weeks though! And I bought the turkey breast last week of November...

I spent £12 on a half price turkey from Sommerfields and it was delicious and the rest was homegrown and or from the freezer. Broth for starter made with veg from the garden. Turkey and all the trimmings and then strawberry cheesecake with strawberries I grew last summer. Oh yes and I bought a tub of cream.:T
  • Well Im really upset with what I spent £300  I did have 10 people over and this included about £60 worth of booze. Its my own falt because I did take my other half and went to a supermarket this I dont know. This food was for yesterday plus boxing day and four dinners. But still this is mega bucks and I feel upset becase I dont think that any of my guests even gave too hoots. I have said to my other half that we will be having no one but us next year. sorry to be so grumpy

We ended up spending £80 for the 2 of us but that included washing powder, softner and bits and bobs for making pickled onions and pickled cabbage to replace stocks that we used up or gave away last week. It also was food for a fortnight of planned meals and some storecupboard replenishment so I don't think it was too horrendous.
OH looked a bit scared at the checkout but then he doesn't do the big shops only the small day to day bits so doesn't really know what to expect :)
  • I spent far too much on our Christmas food shop. As I got it in lots of different shops over the course of a few months, I couldn't say how much it came to, but I know we've got a lot of stuff in - far more than we can handle, in fact - and I really doubt we'll spend that much next year. At least we'll not run out of chocolate for a while!
