  • Went to my local store today in edgware, was pretty empty apart from a lot of old CDs and DVDs - the staff were all sat round a table in the empty store, in their santa hats playing games which was nice to see, at least they are still smiling despite everything!

Can't believe there were shoplifters in woolworths - that's just sad
  • My daughter bought a face plate for he Wii guitar and rechargable battery pack for her Wii fit, she got them both for £9 Should have been about £25. I was really pleased for her as she was spending her own christmas money and she is only 7 but it did not feel good getting a bargain when you see the shops as they are knowing all these people are going to be out of a job when they close on Saturday night. My little girl loves woolworths and she is upset that they are closing.

I agree, that's just sad. I didn't see any, but even hearing about it makes me just aggrevated.
I mean, why the heck would you shoplift if there's such a huge sale on anyway? :S
  • There are no children clothes left at Sheffield, which is a crying shame as that's the thing I'll miss most.
    Woolies kids clothes rocked.
Are there any left near Sheffield where I can go to stock up on girls clothes aged 4-6?

Obsessing about remortgaging and interest rates all day, every day:)

  • Well, I beg to differ about all the games being 50% off.

Visited two Woolies today, both close 05/01/09, and the remaining PS3 games were all still as marked on the stickers i.e. £30+ , they're simply not scanning at 50% off. Which was a shame because I wanted to buy Fallout 3.

Both stores were a bit chaotic, tbh, no-one knew what anything cost & it was a case of take your chances at the till.

My local has gone to upto 70% off now (closing on the 5th). Cards/giftwrap/etc were 70% off. Pretty much everything else was 50% off. Managed to get an 'electronic pass the parcel' thing for £4.49, giftwrap 59p, cards 33p-50p, party tableware 50p for plates and napkins, A4 refill pads 25p, pretty butterfly mugs £1 each. Really sad that it's closing as it's the heart and soul of the street and the staff are lovely - don't think they'll have many probs getting new jobs as they know their stuff!

  • I popped into the Wrexham branch and bought 6 pairs of school trousers for my 2 boys and paid the grand sum of 60p a pair.
