Pronuptia - terrible service

Hi everyone,
My little sis is getting married very soon and has bought her dress from Pronuptia. They've really messed her around - the dress was late in being ready and they were very unprofessional about getting back to her, making appointments and so on.
But the worst thing is that they haven't done the alterations on the dress properly, and it's now too close to the wedding to do anything about it. It's manageable, so she'll just have to wear it, but she's upset and they've really cut corners.
We'd like to complain afterwards, but I don't know what the best way is to go about it, and whether we can realistically hope for any compensation or anything, since she'll have to wear the dress for the wedding now, there's no other option. Does anyone have advice on a) complaining to a franchise - the branch or head office? b) complaining about a product even though you've had to use it and you've already paid for it, c) complaining about acceptable standards in things like dress alterations?
Grateful for any advice,
thanks all

try speaking to consumer direct, they can tell you what to do.0

Try contacting an alternative dressmaker - they may do it same day if you explain the situation.
Poor girl - my sister hired her mens clothing from Pronuptia, and when they got there, two had gaping holes in them. Useless.Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

Ah Weebles,
I know exactly where your sis is coming from. I ordered my dress through Pronuptia and it arrived 2 days before I got married so they had 1 day to do the alterations. Because it was all such a rush when I tried it on after the alteratiions I didn't really pay too much attention but on the day the hemline was dreadful, too long and very uneven, it was far too loose around the bust but I couldn't do anything about it. I was a larger bride, usually a size 18-20 and the dress I tried was a 20 and I felt fantastic in it but I was persuaded by Probuptia to buy a 22 as it would be easier to take it in rather than let the bust out less than 0.5cm. It was the worst mistake, The dress didn't feel at all fitted and as a consequence I felt even bigger in it. Sadly because it arrived 2 days before the wedding I had absoloutely no choice but to wear it as it was. I didn't complain trhough as just had too much else going on. I didn't let it spoil a beautiful day though, I just wish I could have felt a bit more of a beautiful bride though. I would say though that depending on when your sis's wedding is have a look at an independant dressmaker to see if they can improve things.0 -
I found Pronuptia to be great. However, I was pleased they made me take the dress home with me instead of staying in the shop like I thought it would as the branch went bust a few weeks later. Yikes.
Good luck getting things sorted.Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

My daughter and her friend had a terrible time in both pronuptia and berkertex, the assistants were rude and very unhelpful, so they defo wont be getting any recommendations from us, I have found them to be very snotty with younger brides, my daughter and her friend are both 23 and young looking, trouble is they will have lost business for themselves as 5 of thier friends are also gettign wed in next 2 years. I really hopwe you get yr sis's dress sorted, the advice of a independant dressmaker is a brilliant idea & I would defo complain, take pics of the dress as proof of what it looks like.
Hope everything goes beautifully for yr sis, and may trhe sun shine on her marriage.Murphys no more pies member 48:beer:
