Flaky splitting fingernails

Not sure why this is but in the last few months my fingernails have started to flake and split even when very short. I don't think its anything fungal as they're not "lifting" at all.
They were never good, but have definitely declined. I'm approaching "that" age  and my skin is now drier, could declining hormones be a cause?
My diet is OK I believe as my hair is great (according to my hairdresser) and it's made of the same protein as nails.
I've never bitten my nails and always use gloves when washing up etc.
I'm a bit stumped.....

You could try O P I products. They are expensive but they definately work.0

I would definitely recommend OPI products, in particular the Nail Envy. It is a nail hardener that you apply every 2nd day until the 7th day when you remove it all and start over again. It can be expensive but is well worth it. I get mine from Ebay. Expect to pay about £7.50 Hope this helps.I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.0
