Nice Jelly for Trifle? Help!

Options
Hi Guys,

I was wondering if you can help me? I've been charged with making the Christmas trifle and I want to shop up with something a little nicer than the jelly, angel delight, cream mess that is normally dished up.

I think I'm going to make aa peach and passion fruit with co!!!! rum soaked brioche to replace those hideous trifle sponges but the only Jelly I can find in the supermarkey is the usual strawberry, raspberry or orange flavours. I think that these may overpower the other taste.

Does anyone know if you can get nice delicatly flavoured jelly in a ready mix pack? I had a gorgeous co!!!! flavoured one at a chinese restaurant last month, something like that would work but I don't have time to hunt out weird and wonderful ingredients.

Any Ideas?

Merry Christmas :)

How about using gelatin leaves then you can make whatever flavour jelly you like, maybe champagne jelly with rasberries in? Saw that somewhere recently and it looked lovely! :D

  • Either use gelatin leaves as Chameleon suggests -they're really easy and you get a soft, wobbly jelly not a rubbery one, OR don't have jelly.

Real trifle (imo:D ) doesn't contain jelly. Use jam and fruit instead. Tinned raspberries plus some raspberry jam work well.

I pick fresh rasps in the summer and freeze for my christmas trifle or you can just buy frozen ones, much nicer than tinned, I agree, use lovely homemade rasp jam if possible instead of jelly. Also a lovely ripe banana in there goes really nice with rasps, also homemade custard makes all the difference. Everyone loves my trifle.
