Tesco 'Easy Access' disaster

We've finally got the Clubcard points for opening our two Tesco Internet accounts.
Obviously, they have only given us 1,500 points each even though my wife funded her account with £50k. Yet another complaint letter in the post ...

I agree with the OP - this is the most ridiculously convoluted setup process I've ever encountered. My wife has been in the process of setting up one of these accounts since December last year and it's still not complete yet. She's got the actual account up and running and has got money into it, but she is still waiting for the card reader several weeks after requesting it (got the card and PIN, just no reader yet).
It seems as though the process has been deliberately designed to spoon-feed the applicant with just enough progress to keep them hanging on, but at no point is the whole procedure ever explained in full.
If this is all the result of 'money-laundering' regulations, then al Quaeda has won the war!

If you have a card reader from any other Bank you can use it with your Tesco card and Pin No.
I didnt know this at the time and was tearing my hair out waiting for the card reader which took several weeks and many excuses from Tesco.
On day I picked up another card reader by mistake and it was only after I had completed my Tesco transaction I realised I had used Nationwide CR to send it :-)0 -
I cancelled my account, before it was ever finalised, after weeks and weeks of delays - it was like Chinese water torture. They obviously don't need the business.0

Ive had enough of them too, I applied back in December. Ive asked them to either close my account or send me the log in details. It will probably take them another 2 months to do anything.0

Closing my account didn't take particularly long.
Phone up, to withdraw any money, first. They will do that over the phone if you can't do it online 'cos of their stupid security and inability to send anything out.
Then write to close the account - because they insist it comes in writing. And a few weeks later you will get a cheque for the closing interest.0 -

That's actually quite worrying. Makes a mockery of the added layer of security that card readers supposedly add!0 -
