Thank-you! :D I should point out that this doesn't include my mortgage, buildings/contents insurance or holidays though! I think the "all in" figure is around 5.5k so far for 2009 (including all of July's bills to the end of the month)... I don't know how some of the others on the live on 4k a year manage whole families on this or less but I'm pleased with what I've managed so far with a nice quality of life! :D Means my bathroom savings are increasing nicely and I should be able to OP my mortgage properly soon... :j

Sorry you are not feeling too good. Hopefully it will soon pass. I have been looking at my finances too and think we will be at similar stages by 2012.

I looked into zopa some more today. I looked for the July offer as you suggested and it was for loans not lenders, so i tested the water with £100. I can see me putting in a certain amount per month if it works ok. Thanks for your advice. Shame i didn't look into it a few months ago and we could have both benefitted.

    Thanks taka and MQ.

Taka, that still is really impressive. I did contemplate joining the challenge but realised my grocery shopping came to more than £4k a year! Will try and work out how to reduce everything and maybe join you all next year. You all make it look so easy to do. Great that you are using your savings and putting themt o good use.

MQ, would much prefer to have your mortgage-savings figure but as that's not an option, I suppose it's not looking too bad ;)

The £40 referral money is still available for lenders who loan out £2k; the £90 is for people who are borrowing. Don't worry there'll be plenty more opportunities for you to benefit from the bits and pieces that gone on on this board! Good idea on the possible regular contribution; I used to put in £100 per month whilst I was on maternity leave.

I'm going to try and raise the 'missing' money for 12/12/2012. I do have an overdraft to pay off (and some future expenses) so am planning to pay half of what I make to the mortgage pot and the other half to the overdraft. Have worked out the plan and now have to do it!

By the way I have an eBay thread on the DFW board so if anybody needs some motivation to get rid of their clutter, pop over.

    Thanks SMF.

We have confirmed cases on our street and at the childminders. Giving that I failed last time to introduce chickenpox to DS3, I have a feeling we have also managed to bypass the highly contagious Swine flu.

I'm sure it will reappear and get us when we least need it...exam time, Christmas...
I also hate being ill and taking medication. It is such a waste of time and energy isn't it?

I know what you mean about getting it at the wrong time:rolleyes: Chicken Pox is horrible. My boys avoided catching this until they were old - 12 and 10. It was really horrible for them and I wished I'd had them innoculated.

Hope you all get better soon...

    Best Wishes

Ouch that is old. Although have heard that you can still get it even if you have been vaccinated.

I'm going to have a rest now and then get up ready to hit (one of) the eBay piles. Housework will have to wait a week or so....
