People have been saying this for years after the first retail parks were built however if high streets price right and supply what the consumer wants then they will carry on.

Fashion chain Bay Trading is going into administration, putting about 1,000 jobs in 268 branches at risk.
The decision was taken after credit insurance was withdrawn following the release of results on Wednesday.

TBH I am surprised it took this long.

Dreadful, unispiring, dreary bought in tat...that one can buy on Boohoo.com for a fraction of the price or better from New Look with the buzz of a decent store (the new, re-fitted ones).
The shops were fitted out racking style, no flair, no aspiration, zilch.

Good example of a business that didn't lead by design.

It may get sold on but I can't see who would want to buy it.

Following the conversion of the well recognised brand name Virgin to Zavvi & its subsequent demise, a new venture by some of the same management in some of the old stores called Head is the latest re-branding exercise.

!!!!!! - Who decided that Head would be a good name for a shop??? Or is this just a setup for ignoring the meaningless Zavvi name & focussing instead on jokes involving the words Virgin & Head?

    Birthdays chain in administration

Retailer Clinton Cards has put its subsidiary chain of 223 Birthdays stores into administration, putting more than 2,000 jobs at risk.
The company said all of the Birthdays outlets would continue to trade while the administrators explored all options to secure their future.
Clinton Cards said that in the current economic environment it could not sustain Birthdays' £7m annual losses.

£6ish for a 'not very special' mass produced greeting card is beyond a joke. I had to buy one from there 'last minute' last month, nearly had a heart attack.

You get perfectly passable cards of a similar quality for a couple of quid in supermarkets these days, or you can pay a bit more and get a special handmade ones in local newsagents and independent shops.

Lots of places that try selling things at silly prices seem to be failing. Lower end stuff appears to be doing ok.

Has anyone counted how many so far we have on the list?
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Bearing in mind some are still trading as they went into administration but were bought, we've had at least:

    MFI
    Woolworths
    Pier Group
    Whittards
    Officers Club
    Zavvi
    Barratts
    PriceLess shoes
    Birthdays
    Bay Trading
Mosaic (Karen Millen, Warehouse, Coast, Shoe Studio)
    Adams Childrenswear
    Diamonds and Pearls

    Who have I missed?
