Hi
I'm trying to find out about applying to be in the Garda, but coming across very little information on it...even a website about it throws up very small links and no recruitment information.
Is anybody working for them or know much about them at all?
Thanks

|Their official website (1st hit on google btw) doesn't seem to work to well under firefox, but using the site map:

What's the Fascination of working for the GARDA?
That's a well known question they will ask you if you get selected.
I personally don't understnd anyone who wants to work for the police.

Because I want to actually make a difference in society and not sit behind a desk in a 9-5 job...well thats my reasoning anyway!
But thanks for your help guys, I'll keep checking to see if they are recruiting. Website is pretty naff compared to the English ones!
I'm not Irish, my OH is though.0 -
Not sure if you know, and perhaps up in Dublin it's different, but where I live in South East Ireland, every Garda I've ever made the acquaintance of is Irish. I've never known a non-Irish Garda - and certainly not an English one!I'm not Irish, my OH is though.
I could be wrong now, perhaps An Garda Siochana is more multi-national, as it were, in other parts of Ireland. But just keep in mind that to be an English Garda would be quite "exclusive"!
All the best anyway, good luck.0 -
