For those of you that keep spending diaries. How much did you spend this year. I keep a spending diary and I log everything that isn't a bill (so no mortgage, council tax, water etc is included) but all holidays, drinks, cinema tickets, groceries etc are.
I spent 9600 this year (so far) but I've pretty much spent what I'm going to for 2008 now. That's 788pcm on average. I think I've done reasonably well for me this year.

I dread to think how much I've spent this year.
I think I would like to keep a spending dary but know that DH wouldn't keep up with it. He never even keeps reciepts so it's not possible to track the spending. Maybe I can get him to play ball and start keeping receipts so we have an idea?Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
ive just checked my end of year summary and ive spent £27K OMG , however we dont have any debt but I can see why our savings are dwindling.... With two growing lads it aint going to get cheaper is it. This year im going on a mse project ( again) just need to take the rest of the family with me. One of my problem areas is taking out cash which just disappers (1K this year spent with no idea what on!)
Im going to try and get spending down to £20K which should help our savings. As both the boys will probably go to uni Im going to need all the money I can get!
heres to a frugal 2009.

Ditto, I'm planning for a frugal 2009. Have been lucky so far - although am generally careful being a rainy day saver - but I don't believe in "spending my way out of this recession". At best this would be a vulgar display in the face of those who are genuinely struggling.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
