Query re: BR notice in paper

I know that my name will appear somewhere in the local paper, but im most worried about the business side of things.
I am a sole trader with a small business and I have 22 clients for next year so am hoping that the OR will not ask me to close the business, however I know I have to detail the business on the BR forms.
Would my business name appear in the paper as well?

Hi Reevesie,
Yes, your business name would appear, but you are allowed to continue trading under that name after BR (in fact you can only trade under a different name with the OR's permission, and you still have to state your BR trading name!!) Tbh, the notice in the paper is so small most people don't notice them! The OR won't make you close your business if you are able to make a living at it - he's not allowed to do that. CBx0 -
Thanks CB, im not sure I like the fact it will be in the paper, I know there isn't anything I can do about it, but the thought of my client's seeing it and panicing that i can't photograph their wedding fills me with dread, having to explain.
I have never seen the notices, but one of my friends reads them regularly, she hasn't a clue why, but she looks over them.0 -
Hi there,
I was made bankrupt and the OR told me that it would appear in the financial press but never mentioned the local paper, I should not worry it will not be emblazoned across the front page but it will appear in the financial notices along with solicitors looking for beneficiaries of wills and things like that.
BR is not a good thing but it does make it possible for you to get on with the rest of your life.
Good luck in 2009.

Hi there,
This was something that I asked about when I rang the court for my BR appt. Apparently BR notices stopped being printed in our local paper a while ago because of the sheer numbers. Very, very rarely do you see a notice and it is usually for notice of liquidation or asking for creditors to contact the OR.
So it is only the London whateveritis that gets to print it ......
phew.. it was one of my worries too.

Have a look in your local paper and see if you can spot the BR notices - it took us 3 goes before we saw them, they're that small! It depends on where you are, I think, as to whether your local paper still publishes them or not. Ours does cos we're quite rural, but as I said before, no-one seems to have noticed! CBx0
