Amazon.co.uk: £3 off in our MP3 store on Christmas Day and Boxing Day
Comments

I got the same message on Boxing day after forwarding the offer to around a dozen friends - very embarrassing.
I had not been notified of the new T&C's, but went ahead and made a purchase of a few MP3's anyway, only because the tracks I wanted were not available on iTunes.
I e-mail Amazon regarding the error message & got the following (LONG) reply:The Amazon MP3 £3 discount offer that runs from 00.01 (GMT) 25 December 2008 until 23.59 (GMT) 26 December 2008, has been modified to provide a better Customer experience and allow all customers to receive up to £3 off MP3 music downloads purchased on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
To benefit from this great offer, you no longer need to enter the FREEMP3S promo code. Instead, we will refund you a maximum of £3 against your purchases in our MP3 store on Christmas Day or Boxing Day 2008. This refund will be applied to your credit or debit card in January 2009. This offer excludes customers who redeemed the MP3 promo offer using code FREEMP3S to receive their music.
This offer is limited to a maximum of £3 discount per customer/credit or debit card.
Please see Terms and Conditions below for full details.
Terms and Conditions:
1. The Amazon MP3 Music Downloads £3 discount offer ("Offer") runs from 00.01 (GMT) 25 December 2008 until 23.59 (GMT) 26 December 2008 ("Promotional Period").
2. Customers are eligible for a maximum £3 discount on MP3 Music Downloads purchased from Amazon.co.uk during the Promotional Period.
3. Qualifying customers will receive a refund of the amount actually spent up to a maximum of £3 applied to their credit or debit card by 9th January 2009.
4. Offer only applies to purchases of Amazon MP3 Music Downloads from Amazon.co.uk during the Promotional Period by Amazon.co.uk customers.
5. Offer cannot be used against purchases of any other product nor in conjunction with any other offer.
6. Offer may be changed or withdrawn without notice.
7. Offer has no cash alternative and is limited to one per customer/credit card or debit card (please note, we will actively verify this, including by checking your credit card and email address, and will refund only once per customer).
8. Offer excludes customers who redeemed the MP3 promo offer using code FREEMP3S to receive their music.
9. Amazon.co.uk Conditions of Use and Sale as well as Amazon MP3 Music Services Terms of Use apply.
I think that Amazon didn't e-mail these new terms to everyone because they knew that they were going to be inundated with hits to their MP3 store on the 25th & 26th - they wanted people to be deterred by the error message & so not follow-through with their purchases which Amazon would have to refund.
My better half has 2 account with Amazon & was looking forward to £6 worth of downloads, but the error message meant that she was put-off making the purchases.
usually I have nothing but praise for Amazon, but in this case I think they have dropped the ball.
Shame on them.No signature here. Move along please.0 -

I think it was done because individual people were opening 20 or 30 accounts to download 20+ albums for Free, that is why it caused them to stop the code.
The new system was done so it would limit each person to one download per credit/debit card account.0 -
Has anyone received their refund yet?0

I got some e-mails confirming my refunds today, but i believe only for 2 out of the 3 tracks I bought. Guess I'll just have to wait & see what happens in my account over the next few days.No signature here. Move along please.0

When I ordered my downloads on Boxing Day I got the code expired error so I checked out the terms and conditions and it stated that the refunds would still be given.
Got two emails on 05/01/2009 and my refund on 09/01/2009:j0 -
I ordered 5 tracks on Boxing Day and over the course of about 24 hours I had 5 mails giving refunds of varying amounts for each track, totaling £3.
I wasn't impressed by the way Amazon did this though. A lot of people will have come to input the promo code, got the message saying it was expired, and just left it.
A cynic may well think that Amazon decided it was being taken up by too many people and costing them too much.:rolleyes:So your answer don’t be scared of failure
For the only failure is never to try
