Please do not try to redeem in Tesco, you may get a cashier who lets it go through but Tesco cannot redeem it and will end up with a useless piece of paper that they allowed you £2 for. As you can imagine, a few of these will bring an end to the coupon policy. ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!!:naughty:

I HAVE A BIG SECOND ON THAT ONE - TESCO WILL STOP THE COUPON POLICY IF PEOPLE CARRY ON USING THESE TYPE COUPONS
    SIMPLES!
  • Please do not try to redeem in Tesco, you may get a cashier who lets it go through but Tesco cannot redeem it and will end up with a useless piece of paper that they allowed you ¬£2.80 for. As you can imagine, a few of these will bring an end to the coupon policy. ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!!:naughty:

You repeat this every day, do you have a special preprogrammed key on the keyboard?

You conveniently ignore the fact that Tesco has the ability to block both individual coupons, e.g. complan, Glyva, and classes of coupon e.g. Daily Mail book vouchers, if they were not able to claim them back they would have blocked them ages ago, or if they did not want to accept them they have the technology to block them.

It is not overuse per say but things like people using screen shots, which are tantamount to copies in the same way as photocopies which spell the real trouble as tesco expects to be able to redeem these but then finds it can't. It factors a certain percentage of loss from non-redemption into it's business model, just as it factors in breakages, and theft. The Daily Mail coupon was stopped because of !!!! taking by the staff. Putting through 10 or 20 £3 coupons at a time plus staff discount is bound to grab the attention of the management and unleash a clampdown. Quite frankly thats what some of the staff wanted. My local TESCO have stopped and restarted coupon acceptance on several occaisons. Sales plummet when they stop and go back up again when they restart. I had a busybody claim that the coupons couldn't be reclaimed the manager was called down, he phoned the manufacturing company to prove his point and back up his member of staff. He was honest enough to come back and say that the company had just told him they had no problem accepting coupons, and told the member of staff off for harrassing customers and probably sending their valued custom elsewhere.

So please stop repeating the same thing over and over again, individuals should have the sense to know what the local management at their tesco/asda/waitrose do or do not find acceptable, and to avoid those members of staff likely to stir up trouble, and if they don't it's more likely they will get local rather than national policy changed.

ian duncan smith you are so wrong. COUPON GIRL is right.

You can say (rightly) that it scans and that some cashiers/Supervisors/Managers allow it...but it doesn't change the fact that these Daily Mail mocs will bounce back unpaid in the New Year.

This coupon can't be redeemed by Tesco.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

There is no problem with using this original voucher from the paper in Waitrose as they are one of the stores that accept them.
I regularly use vouchers in my Waitrose. I agree that we have to be sensible and not overuse. I have found that my local store policy seems to change regularly but I think that is more to do with whoever is Supervisor for the day. I was told on one occasion that the official policy was to accept up to half the value of your shop but if on the day it is less (or more, if lucky) then I am quite happy just to accept that decision. It is a concession and any saving is a bonus.

Ian Duncan Smith, you say I repeat this everyday, well if yesterday and today counts as everyday then I guess you must be right.
If people keep asking the question, then I will keep providing the answer.

It quite clearly states on the coupon which supermarkets take it, so Tesco shouldn't need to block it as the CS's shouldn't accept them.

It is nothing to do with what is acceptable at each individual store as sometimes they are accepted in error, and it is not until they reach the coupon clearing that they are rejected.

So Ian, get used to it as I shall keep repeating myself if it keeps coming up, as I for one want to protect the policy so that I and others can continue to benefit.:D
