Hi
i bought a top from topman at £25.00 with the old VAT rate of 17.5%
after realising i wasnt a suitable xmas pressie I took it back a week later when the new lower 15% VAT rate in place.
My refund was only £24.96 I said this wasnt right to which he reassured me it was - I am confident its not but for 4p I wasnt prepared to argue (i ll never be rich)
then i though imagine id paid 1000 and only got 960 quid back - then I would have argued
beware

did you have your reciept
surely if you had that, then you should have been given the original purchase price back0 -
The same thing happened to me at TK Max.I bought something full price vat on the Sunday, took it back next day(the day vat was reduced). They refunded me at the reduced vat rate even though I'd paid the full rate.I had my receipt but they would'nt budge on it.0

Sorry but in this case the stores are correct. The price they sell it for is the NET plus VAT. The price you return it at is NET plus VAT. So the NET has remained constant, unfortunately the VAT has changed.

What will happen when VAT goes back up?
