national insurance employed and self employed

I am self employed running a small business. I pay my National Insurance by direct debit every month. However as I don't earn much I have just accepted a paid (employed) job which I will be doing a few hours a month the actual hours worked will differ each month, depending on demand..

I know that my earnings will be taxed at emergency tax level as I am not able to supply a P45, but I wanted to know do I still have to pay National Insurance on my paid job even though I am paying NI monthly already?

And, do I still declare this income on my self assessment form? as this will mean I may get taxed again on those earnings.

I don't want to ask an accountant as I don't earn much so I am hoping that someone on here can help me.

Yes, you'll get NI on both your self employed and earned income. It's different classes. If you are only doing a few hours a month then it may well be below the NI limit.

Your tax return; You include your income earned from your paid job, and your self employed income, and you also include how much tax you've had deducted at source via PAYE. So you don't get taxed on your earned income twice, but it is all included in your self assesment return.
