List says 27th for Cheltenham, but I overheard a sales assistant saying that they don't know yet as it depends on how they get on clearing stock........

the lady who works in the chelt store and uses my bus - says the store will close on the 27th - she is gutted - she says the stock is slowly being moved to the ground floor and by tomorrow the only sales on the top floor will be fixtures and fittings - bless her i feel so sorry for her she has been there 9 years and loves her job:confused:

  • Think I may have paid my last visit there today.

There are 2 listings for Birmingham, 2nd & 5th Jan and my main local one, Sutton Coldfield, closes on the 27th Dec.
Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £9,441.52 Nearly there!

2nd Jan :( such a shame. Still can't quite believe it.
    :rotfl:
  • Does anyone think some stores will close earlier than the dates specified? or not have anything left by the 5th?

The CMK store only has half the ground floor open and is now selling the displays as well, the staff seem cheerful even though it's the last few days. Such a shame to see Wollies go to the wall like this.

Years of no direction and bad senior management.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
  • I guess some stores may close early if they completely run out of stock, although they may also decide to move some stock around from other stores so they can sell as much as they possibly can.
  • UPDATE: the remaining stores are going to be kept open for 1 more day - those that were due to close today will be open tomorrow (3rd Jan), and those closing on 5th will now be open until 6th Jan.

The administrators are trying to make sure they can sell as much stock as possible.
