Help - wrapping paper won't stick!!

So I sat down last night to start wrapping my presents, feeling all jolly and festive, imagining the look of sheer joy and delight on my family's faces when they first set eyes upon their beautifully wrapped gifts...
Approximately seven minutes later I was having to do some yogic breathing in order to prevent myself from bludgeoning someone with a roll of my "luxury" giftwrap, due to my absolute frustration and fury that the bl**dy stuff just would not stay stuck down!!!
So, long story short(ish) my question is does anyone know of anything I could use to make it stay stuck? It's metallicy, almost kind of fabricy paper. So far I've tried Magic Tape, regular Sellotape, and glue dots all to no avail. I'm guessing masking tape might take the edge off the wow factor just slightly.
Still, on the bright side at least I have realized my predicament before 11pm on Christmas Eve, which is when I ordinarily start wrapping
Any tips anyone?

ribbon (material) or shiny xmas ribbon!
strips of shiny paper cut thin!
string, wool ??? the word refund springs to mind, not suitable for purpose!
another thought holepunch it! then tie...or stitch tiny appropriate bits....but bit time consuming!:starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod:0 -
Would double sided sticky tape work? It's much stickier than normal sellotape! Hope you find something!!Thanks to all those who post competitions! :T

double sided masking tape???????The mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

Oh, I remember that stuff - I used it one year and it nearly gave me a heart attack.
In the end (because, unlike you, it WAS 11pm on Christmas Eve), I used superglue, and weighted the edged down with heavy books... then tied up everything in yards of ribbon. It worked, but I soo won't be getting that paper again - EVER!
If I were you, I'd bin it and buy some new paper!I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

If it is from smiths they have some special sticky tabs that they are giving to people who bought paper with a sticking problem.

I always use glue to wrap my presents. Usually I use pritt stick, but you might have no success with something stronger.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
