I found a big bag of spelt in my cupboard....the actual grains not the flour....what could I do with this? Is it similar to other grains like barley or do I need to do owt differently with it?
I have no recollection of buying it.

Spelt is a type of wheat:

I Googled Spelt berries recipes and found this link:

The only thing that I could think of was to sprout the grains (USA uses the word berries instead of grains, it does mean the same thing).0 -
Use it as rice in risotto, or soup grains, soak first for easier quicker cooking.

You could soak it overnight, as it is very hard, and then cook it the next day as an interesting substitute for rice. But be aware that all types of wholewheat have a sweetish taste - and if you sprout it it will be even sweeter.
Very healthy though.
Snap Caterina, you posted while I was typing mine....Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
