Okay this will probably get me shot but who cares. Firstly my friend has just left comet and started a new job he hated it but ho hum. He left me with some great tips. All salesmen are told like he was "Never to discount but always to price match". Yeah ive seen it cheaper here etc. He said to always go on a Saturday when they are busy, as they never have time to call the other store. Also never ask them to price match the item, always to beat it by a few quid. Why on earth would you want it price matching your paying the same.?? Plus they are taught in the sales course all our little habbits as he calls them. Anyway back to the sales ticket.
EVERY ticket has a code on the bottom next to the bar code, in this format
barcode info then this >>> zzzz <<<< next to it. No >> <<< are present on the ticket though. This is the salesmans code so he can see exactly how much profit is in an item at its "full retail price". Using what he told me they have a washer instore currently at £279 with the code zzed next to it. It works on letters of the alphabet a = 1 b = 2 etc so it showed 0054 (z is 0 actually). Fivety four pound margin. I asked for a price match some 30 quid lower for Currys round the corner . Who actually didnt have this washer to be fair and for them to beat it. After a small discussion with the manager he came back and then knocked £35 quid off hey the £19 profit the store made less tax over heads etc will still keep them going im sure.
Go and have fun
