  • They are FANTASTIC!!! I just love love love mine - cannot rave about it enough. I got ours from Furniture Village - they have The London Bed Company inside and the bed was much cheaper through there as opposed to direct from Tempur and I got it on 3 year interest free credit. This is about 4 years ago now so cannot quote figures but look at their website.

My bed is just like new and is wonderful. I am a bit overweight so I got the 20cm thick mattress and I can highly recomend it. Also remember not to put anything between the matress and sheets such as a mattress protection sheet and it decreases the Tempur effects. The cover is removeable for washing if necessary but I would not be without mine. My brother stayed for 2 weeks house sitting and both he and his girlfriend said they couldnt figure out why they kept sleeping in until about 10am and then realised it was because the bed was so comfortable.

If you can afford it go for it.

I've been considering one for a while, as I have slipped discs. A friend in the US has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and got a Tempura bed - she says it's wonderful and prevents the bedsores she was getting.

I had one for several years and it was great for preventing aches. There is a downside to this bed in that it is far too hot if a woman is going through the change and getting hot during the night. I did not have a single decent night`s sleep when this started. I removed the tempur matress and now have a pocketspring wool mattress with a featherbed on top and this has enabled a good night`s sleep for both me and my DH

Before buying tempur try to find the bits on the web that tells about the chemicals. That would have put me off in the first place

Sorry but I've had the opposite experience. My boyfriend has a tempura matress and I wake up with cronic backache whenever I'm at his. Mine is a £99 job from the discount shop and I have a wonderful pain free night of sleep in it.

Thanks for all your replies, I will get him to do some more research... he wants an adjustable one which I think seems a bit over the top for a 42 year old!! has anyone got an adjustable one?

Hes now also looking at memory mattresses... anyone had any experience of those?

    Thanks for all your help!
  • Suspect he feels like sitting up in bed watching telly all day - not a good idea if you want DIY done! We didnt go for the adjustable one as we were worried the mechanisims might breakdown over time and their only guaranteed for 3 years.....the bill for the purchase was enough!

I've also got a tempura mattress and wake up with terrible backache. When I bought it I had a frozen shoulder so thought aches were because I could only sleep on one side.

Went away at the weekend and slept on hard hotel bed and realised I didnt have a backache when I woke up. I now hate the bed - unfortunately we are out of the trial period - havent dared tell my husband as it cost a fortune
