Toys R us ! What were they thinking

Not sure where to post this but had to point it out as I couldn`t quite believe it.

My best friend rang me this afternoon after visiting ToysRus to get a new pushchair for her son.

She had taken the pushchair (a maclaran XT) to the checkout and the bloke on the till couldn`t get it to scan, so he punched the number in manually then announced £29,99 please.......... My friend paid and then left the store.

On getting out of the store, she nearly passed out with excitement as the Bloke had obviously typed in the incorrect product code, as on the reciept it said something about Kong?? I`m presuming it was related to king kong.

So a £100 pushchair for £29.95..

toysrus obviously need to get there act together abit here!!

  • I think your friend should return to the store immediately and rectify the situation.

    Or not :rotfl:

What a bargain!!! there's nothing quite like the feeling when something like that happens! Fair play to your friend

Please can you tell me what model the buggy is?

I wouldnt mind a bargain like that!

The code might be the right one to the buggy, just coming up with another items details and price which sometimes happens at Toys r us.
After just having a baby i could do with a buggy as i only have a double but sometimes only have one child with me so i need a single.
  • i would say that might be a bit risky... as if you get to the checkout and it's actually full price, you might feel a bit sheepish suddenly saying you don't want it anymore

    Twas a Maclaran Tecno XT...

If you fancy giving it a go, take it to customer services and ask them to check the price before making your way to the checkouts - just to be on te safe side x

  • You wouldn't want to raise any suspicion at CS, i would buy it and if it came up full price then i would take it back the next day, untouched with receipt and claim that your friend already got one as a gift :j

I have to agree ........ there is nothing like the buz u get when your under priced for something.

Did the exact same thing, when to a shop and tried on a pair of jeans, wasnt too fussed wether I got them or not (£12 marked up) they wouldnt scan so she typed in the number and they came up at £4.99. ......... Then went to another shop and found a lovely blouse I liked ( very unusual for me) was marked up at £19 and it scanned in at £7 ............... OH boy was I happy so I went and bought a lottery ticket .......... dont usually buy them ............... and guess what

    :-(

A good trick is after the item has been scanned and its the higher price ............. pat your pockets and say ..... "oh dam I have left my purse in the car" ect ..... and leave the shop.

Not sure if you bought your item blouse in an Arcadia store, but Burton/Topman/Topshop etc. are positively terrible for keeping on top of their further reductions and quite often the staff have no idea that it is further reduced!!

It is always worth checking up on sale items at Arcadia shops as you never know. That and the fact that when items return to full price, they are also quite often left on the sale rail. Not really a bargain if it was in the sale, but your still getting something for less than it should be.
