Exit fee from HSBC mortgage?

Can anyone help me out, please?

HSBC are taking their time to get back to me with the cost of the exit fee from their mortgage (I will be at the end of a fixed-term, so there will be no penalty, I just need to know the exit or 'admin' fee so I can add it in to my budget for the switch).

Is there anyone who has switched their mortgage from HSBC recently who could help, please?

Thanks

  • Hi

Regarding exit fees, if HSBC have increased them over the period of your fixed rate, they should have informed you on the way, therefore this figure should be know to you. If they haven't it will be with your original docs from the completion of the mortgage.

I would love to know why they are struggling to tell you how much their clsoing fee is? Surely staff should know this. Give them a call and request this immediately. If that fails, write to them demanding and explanation and get the fee reduced. this is of course for you and you quite rightly said you need to know for budget purposes.

Thank you for the reply. I don't know why the delay. I haven't written, I've used the online message service (no response) and the telephone banking service (they were busy at the time I called, but called back when I was at work a couple of days later, and the same has happened today - too high volume of calls to put me through to an adviser).

But I will check my original docs again now. thanks.
  • Thats OK. See the thread Alliance and Leicester exit fee and the posts people have put on their regarding this issue you have. Believe it or not 8/10 people pay it, so a couple of complaints from you on your situation and I'd say they'll review charging some or if you damn lucky all of it. I got over half of my exit fee waived with C&G.

I came out of a HSBC 5 year fixed rate mortgage at the end of November 2005 and there were no exit fees to pay. HSBC seem to be very transparent with their mortgages in my experience
