I'm interested to know, for those that rent in London, what has happened to your rent.
Has it increased in the last two years?
Has it decreased in the last two years?
Has it stayed the same in the last two years?
Also, What is your retn now compared to when you first rented the property?
Have lived in the Docklands area in London about seven minutes drive from Canary Wharf since I work there ever since I moved to the UK. It has now been six and a half years. For the first year (from Sep 2002), I lived in a one bed apartment in Marshwall near the Ombudsman's office and paid a considerable 235 per week in rent. One year later (Aug 2003), moved to another flat, this time a two bed apartment although only marginally bigger than the first one and was paying 220 per week.
Then July last year, moved to a much bigger flat, a maisonette with two bedrooms (and importantly, two bathrooms), and have been paying a rent of 270 per week, which hasn't changed since.
 Cheers

Our rent hasn't changed since we moved in to our current place, which was Autumn 2006. Similar property in our block is currently on at an asking rent of the same as we pay, and not shifting.Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0
