in Cutting tax
My dad has recieved 3 letters from Inland Revenue today saying that from 2004-2007 too much tax has been taken and there is a repayment of tax due. How do you get the repayment? There is no leaflet or nothing enclosed with it and I cant make head no tail of anything on their wbesite. Does he need to apply - does it get sent automatically?

If HMRC are saying that he has overpaid tax, I would imagine that a refund will be automatic.
Why don't you phone them and ask?0 -
Normally HMRC sends out the assessment letters (ie what your dad has received) and a few days later he'll get a cheque. If your dad rings they'll check this for him.0

Thanks both. He has gone on holiday today for xmas so wont be able to ring until he comes back but if there was any forms or anything I would have requested them for him to fill in.
Fingers crossed we get a cheque in a few weeks then and if not, I will get him to give them a ring when he comes back in Jan.0
