Hi All,
I am about to go BR, probably Xmas eve if I get it all together in time. Any one have have experience of the Bristol OR ?
I fear the worst as I took out a 25k consolidation loan over 18 months ago and used 10 K of it to keep my Ltd company afloat.
Thanks

hi
i went bankrupt in bristol back in july and the whole process was relatively straightforward. The interviewing officer from the or office was really pleasant. He contacted me the afternoon i went bankrupt and then arranged a telephone interview a week later.Ihad everything ready for the interview, pages of statements facts and figures as well as lots of explanations as to what had gone wrong,i was expecting a real grilling!however my interview was very easy no grilling,he never went into any of the debt in any great detail, the interview lasted about 45 minutes, but seemed about 5!i heard from him again about 2 weeks later,he told me they were taking my car as an asset and that was the last i heard.I have now been handed over to the rtlu and have received and sent back the forms for early discharge.I think i was lucky in many respects it just depends on who your interviewing officer is and the circumstances of your bankruptcy, but all ican say is my experience was nothing unpleasant or frightening and i wish i had done it months ago instead of burying my head in the sand!!!good luck and if you have any more questions about the bristol experience let me know0 -
Hi
Went BR in Bristol in May, my case was passed between three different case workers in the time it was at Bristol. I can honestly say I found all the people in the OR office at Bristol to be really nice, decent, empathetic people who I found to be very approachable. Therefore, please don't worry - I can honestly recommend maybe just phoning them even to break the ice - it'll make all the future conversations much easier.
I have since transferred to the RTLU like the above poster although not finding it quite as smooth as the OR in Bristol because of IPA issues and seemingly different calculation methods.
Likewise, feel free to ask of the Bristol experience - I can honestly say they are a really good bunch.

I would echo the other sentiments of the posts previous to mine.
I went BR in August 2005 and the OR's assistant was very friendly and professional to me and was non-judgemental at all times. I started off on a dodgy footing too, I'd got all my paperwork ready, dressed up in a suit and presented myself at the office only to be told that I was 24 hours early....I'd misread my letter...
Good luck. At the end of the day, they're only doing their job....0 -
im due to go bankrupt in bristol on the 22nd jan! a few days time!
im terrified, im only 24
had a really bad childhood been homeless at 14 so debt started way back to teen years and have been carrying it ever since. I just need a fresh start. What is it like in bristol? is there a big queue? im gonna get there for 8.30am! also i have a car recently (daft i know) but i just passed y test and my uncle sold me it for £300. its a fiesta encore 1997 p reg. Will they take it? cos my uncle will beat me if they do!! (joke) but he will be very angry with me. Also can i keep my basic bank account with halifax its a cash easy account. No really guys the car is really important.0 -
I would not worry about the car as i am sure that the OR wont be intersted in as as it would not be worth anything to them it would most likely cost them £300 to send a company to come and get it. But let the OR you need it for work or to look for work and it should be fine.
You wont be able to keep the Halifax account as they dont do accounts for undischarged bankrupts as i found out for myself when they shut my cash easy account. Just give Co-op a call and ask for a cashminder account. You should be able to do it over the phone and you can keep the account after BR as the OR's know about them.
Good luck and at 24 and with what you have been through i wish you a great fresh start to your new life.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Went BR last May and back then the first appointment available was just over three weeks for the time of phoning.
Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if you do have to wait a good month before you get your hearing.
When we went, there was no need to see the judge - literally a case of handing over the forms and 'come back in an hour'. A cup of tea in Debenhams later, and we returned and the deed was done.
Therefore, don't get too worried about having to see judges etc either.0 -
