Tesco's discounts??

Options
Today I popped into Tesco's for some milk, I always have a look at the reduced counter out of habit. This afternoon on there was two pieces of neck of Lamb which looked O.K.On looking at the price it was priced at £3.85 down from £3.91:eek: a 6p discount on meat with today's sell-by date:eek: hardly the bargain of the week.
I asked one of the sales assistants, and she said 'It's what the computer says to charge' she couldn't seem to grasp that 6p was hardly a great amount to make anyone want to buy it .Needless to say I didn't ,I just wonder what Tesco's call a discount on sell-by stuff,I'm sure it used to be slightly more than 6p,perhaps even Tesco's are feeling the pinch ,or maybe they thought that as it was on the reduced bit and marked down someone would be daft enough to buy it without looking at the original price first .Do Tesco's really think women are that silly:rolleyes:

Jackie the website is as bad.. I did the xmas shop this week and always start on the specials page and many of the offers were showing a saving of 1p whoop-de-doooo :rotfl:
  • Our Morrisons is as bad. I couldn't understand why people get so excited about yellow stickered items when all we get is a few pence off an item which is about three pounds. At the end of the day stuff will only be half price at maximum discount . I'd rather pay full price for something fresh! Often things are quite badly damaged and still only a few pence off.

I wonder if it's because the staff get to take stuff home at the end of the day at an even bigger discount. I know my friend who used to work at Tesco's used to get bread for 5p etc all put out in the staff room for them!!

Tescos sell butter shortbread in their 'value' range. I put one in the basket & then just out of curiosity checked how much 'cheaper' it was compared to their regular butter shortbread (green wrapper).

    It was...........You guessed it..............More expensive.

    Very cheeky & downright misleading.

Went to Tesco's last night as OH had see in the paper that they had '1000's of items at half price' maybe we didn't look hard enough (only in there for hour and a half) but we couldn't find anything that was any cheaper. OH has now realised that when i say things are going up, that i'm not just saying it and that there is a reason why i want to shop at aldi. he's turned into a bit of a snob and doesn't like the idea of shopping there!!!

I've noticed things in the yellow sticker fridge don't take into account special offers.

Often the yellow sticker item has a few pence off the original price of one item, but it still works out cheaper per item buying 2 with a longer date on the special offer.

You really need your maths head on when you go shopping :D
Here I go again on my own....
  • Just viewed the Tesco 'Christmas Food Half Price' offers online. Pack of fish fingers caught my eye. I know things are a bit tight this year but fish fingers - blimey

Not long ago I received an email from Tesco with claimed they had hundreds of half price offers online. I went to their offer page, and there was about 30 half price offers.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Had a good look at their bacon today. They seem to be selling it in ever smaller amounts with some packs containing just 4 rashers, but the pack looking as big.

Not impressed with Tesco at all at the moment. They have racked up huge price rises on their basic products. Marmalade up from 58 to 78p for instance.

You really have to search hard and read all the labels to get value.
