government/police auctions

has anyone been to one of these?

are they really as good as they are made out to be?

where can I see lists of where they will take place? (google leads to mostly sites that want you to pay or aren't very good)

Try this http://www.bumblebeeauctions.co.uk/XcAuctionPro.asp Don't know if its what you are after, but its a start.
  • In Scotland they're normally held at Wilsons in Dalry (Wilsons has places all over the place inc Ireland).

Are they any good? You might get lucky, but i've seen people paying £18 for a £20 gift voucher (add 10% then the vat on the 10%) giving you a total of £20.11 (vat was 17.5 at the time).

Also saw £10 (add 10% then the vat on the 10%) for a Tesco kettle with £9.99 on the box.

The only bargain I ever got was a box of shoplifted razor blades. At the time it was about £150 worth, got them for £22 plus fees.

Everyone assumes it's cheap but realistically, it's not.
