1st credit

Has anyone had any experience of 1st credit - we are in a dmp with payplan, have had a phone call from 1st credit tonight to say the have now got one of our debts (was sainsburys bank) for £26,500. The man was saying things like they won't accept the dmp payments any longer and want the account settled in 3 years, or a reduced settlement if we can borrow money from family or friends by the 15th Jan, or they will take us to court and may look at equity in our house and may look at bankruptcy. I asked for all future correspondence to be by post, but he said they are a telephone based company and preferred to speak to people. Eventually he agreed to put it in writing what they actually wanted. The letter we have had letting us know that the debt had been sold to them says sainburys bank at the top, but actually came from 1st credit apparently. I kept saying that we couldn't give them what we don't have, we wanted all correspondence by post and that payplan are dealing with our debts and I would speak to payplan as soon as possible.

Just search this forum and you will find end posts on Worst Crudit.
They threaten everything, that's why they like to deal by phone as they can't threaten you in a letter! Do not speak to them on the phone and say you will only deal in writing.
They rarely follow through on their threats, but that said, I don't trust these bar stewards further than I can throw them.
For a start, they told you they like debts cleared within 3 years - they told me 5 years!
Just keep writing to them and demanding they write to you and ignore their calls. They do eventually get the message but it takes a while. I went round in circles with them for months - I wrote to them to say writing only and they wrote back asking me to call them...err! Nope!
Good luck with them.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Also meant to say, they break every rule in the book. They should not be asking you to borrow money.
Check out the OFT Debt collection guidelines (sorry, rubbish at links) and familiarise yourself with these and if you should speak with them, spout back at them every rule they are breaking (like the one above). I found it worked with me as the person on the other end put the phone down on me!Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Imfamous on here
Read debtman's thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1134207 and then pm him and the others.
I suggest you send a telephone letter and read up on the OFT Guidleins for debt collection.
1st crudit may well send you out statuatory demands and all sorts, because they cost nothing. You need to come back here and talk to NDL every time.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
As RAS said, they send out Statutory Demands like confetti - I think it's the only stationery they own! So do post back on here if you receive one and the good peeps on here will help.
They will try and make your life hell - that's the way they work so that you buckle under the pressure. Don't let them and stand up to them.
I'm with CCCS and went round in circles with this shower of s**t for several months. I've not heard from them now for nearly 6 months so I am assuming they are accepting my dmp. However, I am awaiting their next move as I can't believe they'd leave someone alone for this long and I don't trust them! But I'm prepared for the onslaught, so I'm sure I can deal with them.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Thanks very much for replying, we have been on the dmp for almost 4 years and the other debts which have been sold we haven't had any major problems from (touch wood!), so this has been a real upset this evening. It's reassuring to know others have had the same problems. Is there a letter correspondence only template anywhere?0

Hi Wellie,
DO not let these !!!!!! at Worst Credit get to you, they will try to scare and bully you into paying.
Read up on all the advice given by everyone on here and show them that you know your rights, will stand your ground and do not weaken to them.
Keep posting updates - you've got lots of support on here

Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

If you are getting lots of telephone calls, send one of these letters to get it stopped. May take a few days, but if you refuse to answer any security questions they will not be able to discuss the account with you.

Worst Crudit are a complete bunch of !!!!!! as BOS said. I had "fun" with them for a while and they've left me alone since - stand up to them.
Don't answer their security questions if you do answer the phone to them, give them your Payplan ref no. and hang up.
Worst Crudit (and other DCA's) buy debts for pennies in the pound so they will bully you into paying what they want you to pay. Ignore their demands and if it should go to court, then hopefully the courts will look favourably upon you for making an effort and Worst Crudit breaking every rule in the book and being difficult.
Please, please do not let this shower of lowlifes get to you.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

The important line from the OFT Guidelines is
2.8d Examples of unfair practices are as follows: contacting debtors directly and bypassing their appointed representatives
As DID says 'if you do answer the phone to them, give them your Payplan ref no. and hang up.'0
