hi started a new thread cos we had our big call with payplan last saturday and the girl on the phone said she would post everything out on monday(last week) and we still haven't received anything from them yet.
we are both starting to get a bit more stressed as we are expecting the calls from the company's we sent token payments to , to start.
the only good thing is that the debt is all in my oh name so the plan is for me to answer the phone
can anyone advise us how long it will take to get the dmp up and running
thanks ss

Don't worry - it does take time for it all to start. I began in September and it seemed to take ages before anything happened. When creditors phoned I just told them to phone Payplan and refused to say anything more. Once you get moved off your first stage, and onto the second, things seem a bit quicker - this takes a few weeks and then you get access to your accounts on-line and can see your debt going down! It also took quite a while for my first payment to be mae - I think I chose 28th of each month (day after salary went into my bank) and then it shows up on-line after 3 days but doesn't seem to reach creditors until about the 10th. I think this is because Payplan has certain days for payments to be made. I did worry that Payplan were not doing much - but now I haven't had any horrible phonecalls for weeks and most of my creditors seem to have frozen interest - although I could only see this when statements from them arrived. I think they are very busy and that causes delays in getting back to people quickly. It will all start to happen - you will notice when you haven't had any scary phonecalls or letters for a few weeks - even from the Inland Revenue who are one of my creditors! The only one I am currently having problems with is Mint who are trying to scare me into paying £165 per month when I am paying them £135 - I just wrote and said contact Payplan.0

It can take a while to contact your creditors and get details off them, some big companies take easily 3 weeks to deal with correspondence. In the mean time, if they contact you, refer them politely to Payplan."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0

And be ready for some creditors to deny that Payplan have contacted them! I don't know whether this is a ploy to frighten you into paying something over the phone, or simply bureaucracy, but initially I did have phone calls like this.0

thanks to both of you for your replies.
its only after coming onto this board that we realised that we are not alone in this and there are quite a few other people in the same situation.Light Bulb Moment 1st January '06-£82,000

Hi there
If you call payplan they have a "script" for dealing with your creditors on the phone. Alternatively change your number.
Best wishes LouiseNobody is perfect - not even me.0
