Well this year we have managed to sort everything for xmas without anything on credit. It has all been bought with debit card or for in vouchers :T Sorry but i am quite proud of this.

The plan for next year is to do the same but spread the cost out over the year.
to do this
have started avon so will be keeping all money from that in a savings account to use

have joined sealed pot chalange for all odd change(11p so far)

have asda card.Total is rounded up to nearest multiple of 5 this will be used for the food shopping.

will buy cards and wrapping paper in the sales

have written a list of people who we usually buy for so if i see some deals in the sales we can afford they can go in the loft and on the list so not forgotten.

what if anything have/will u do to sort out next xmas or am i just a tad too organised (the rest of my life is chaos)

Hiya beki, i've started planning for next xmas too:D .
I too have joined the sealed pot challenge, have no clue how much is in there buut hope to have about £300 for next xmas.
I've started saving my boots and nectar points - i use these for gifts and food, and i've also started saving any money/vouchers i get from survey and cb sites.
I plan to get all of my cards, tags, bows and ribbons in the jan sales, and i'm hoping to pick up a few bargains too (prob for birthdays through out the year). I also want to put together xmas hampers for people next year, i was looking through the pics on the special occassions board and they look lovely (not bad prices either and much more personal).
You should have a look on the special occassions board theres a really good thread for planning and organising for next xmas;) .

    Hello!

I have joined the Sealed Pot Challenge with the aim of saving £150. I have started a savings account for Christmas/birthdays which I am also paying £10 a month into.

Starting in January, I pay for:
    • £10 a month Amazon vouchers'
    • £20 a month Boots vouchers
    • £10 a month M&S vouchers
which comes out of my wages at a reduced rate - I think it's about 5% for each voucher. This gets given to me at the start of each quarter, so I will get £30 Amazon, £60 Boots and £30 M&S at the start of January. These will be used for birthdays throughout the year and for Christmas is there is anything left over.

I have written my list of what I want from the sales, and will be buying my Christmas cards, paper and tags on Boxing Day probably, and I don't really care what people think about that, it will save me a fortune! I bought 12 crackers from Boots this year for about £3.70 and as there is only me and t'other half in the house (the cats can't pull the crackers due to their lack of opposable thumbs and their fear of loud noises) I have put 6 crackers on the tree and the other six go in the loft for next Christmas.

    Yes, I'm planning for 2009 :D

  • It's great isn't it. The difference of mindset that belonging here brings. i always thought people who went out and bought reduced stuff after christmas were a bit 'tight'. Now I realise that they are very wise! This is the first year I can remember that I havent upped my credit over Christmas and I think we all have a right to be proud.....For we are jolly good fellows and so say all of us!

  • I was in Woolies today and saw some lovely Christmas cards reduced so i've got them as they match my wrapping paper ( which i bought last year for this then forgot about it!) so have that sorted. I'm also going to get sorted for presents in the sales as we have a few weddings to go to this year, one abroad that will be expensive, so i don't want to be left panicking in December!
    Debts all paid!!!:j

Don't be sorry, this is great! I must admit to already having enough paper/cards for Xmas 09 after buying so much in Jan this year :o

I will be starting to save for next year from this pay day.... monthly cash saves for prezzies, plus I'll be saving money for food shopping next Xmas.... not sure how much that is going to be yet, but will decide soon. Will also be on the lookout for prezzies in the early new year, although I won't be doing too much shopping on Boxing Day, as I'm working for a couple of hours... double time :D

  • Well done to you all.
Got a tip passed on to me from a clever older lady, so simple but effective, for Christmas pressie tags. When you take all this years cards down, go through them and cut little tag sized pictures from the front of the cards(she used the zig zag scissors), get a hole puch, bit of ribbon or thread and you have a good 100 or so tags :).
She does this for a local charity and sells them at a penny a time !

Hi everyone, I'm also thinking sbout next Christmas - I think its the only way to do it without the stress. Last year I saved about a fiver or sometimes a tenner in a sealed tin every week and its been a huge help. This year I'm going to try and up it to a tenner.
Good luck to all you organised people!:T :D
