I think your wife would be fine putting all that down, after all its the truth. When you're interviewed by the OR, they will probably ask this for their records, I think her explaining her side, ie that the debts were out of hand by the time she got wind of them and that you had no choice, would be absoultely fine.

    Ok. Bank accounts.

I'm sure it would be fine for your wife's wages to go into her father's account, just make sure her employer is informed of this change as soon as possible. My wages went into my mums account when I declared, and in fact still did until recently (this is related to a problem with my employer). I took a letter to work stating that I wanted to change my details, with a little section saying my mum gave permission for the money to go inher account, and she signed it. It was fine.

    Hope that helps:)

    Hi Paul,
I can't advise you personally but I wish you all the best.
Take it one step at a time, you WILL get through this, and as well as getting advice yourself, you will in the future be able to advise others who go through the same thing!

    Hi,
When we completed our forms, we put that periods of unemployment and high costs of living, plus a shortfall in income had led to our bankruptcy. The debts had built up when we used credit cards, overdrafts and loans to keep us going. OR was fine with it.
With the bank accounts, the OR said they had no problem with us keeping our Co-op account open, as there was no overdraft on it and we didn't owe the Co-op anything. They then sent a letter to the bank confirming this, but Bank's policy is that we have to have a basic bank account, which they are in the process of setting up for us. In the meantime, they've agreed to keep the account open until the new one has been set up, so your wife may be able to use the same bank account for her wages as she's always done.

    Good luck!
