Help Meeee! Online Armor Won't Work!!!!

Hi everyone,
a spot of bother - I installed the Windows Service Pack 3 off the microsoft update website last week. Thereafter, it really slowed down my computer badly so I did a system restore point today to go back to service pack 2 that I previously had. Everything seems fine except the fact that my online armor firewall didn't start/work.
So I uninstalled and re-installed it again. However, I still got an error message saying it cannot start.
It's not coming up as an active programme, however in my hijackthis log it still says its running on the system - HOW BAFFLING!:
Run: [@OnlineArmor GUI] C:\Program Files\Tall Emu\Online Armor\oaui.exe
ONLINE ARMOR HELPER SERVICE C:\Program Files\Tall Emu\Online Armor\oacat.exe
ONLINE ARMOR (SVCONLINEARMOR) C:\Program Files\Tall Emu\Online Armor\oasrv.exe
Right now I feel quite vulnerable being just on my windows firewall, and I had alot of peace of mind when my online armor firewall was working but now it won't even start up
Somebody please help me with how I can get it back up and running
many thanks

Sorry I can not help, as I do not know the online armor you are refering to. However, do not feel threatened to turn on, I have only used windows firewall for about 4 or 5 years now and not once had any trouble. I use Firefox for browsing as it is more secure than internet explorer, and AVG virus. Works well for me
If nothing else, this will let you get to have a good look around any forums for help, if no one here can advise
GLThere are 10 kinds of people that understand binary
Those that do
Those that dont

Anyone who relies purely on a Windows firewall is living dangerously - especially as there are plenty of free firewalls available that do protect your machine properly
As for the OP, have you tried downloading a new version of the firewall from the Armor website
Failing that try another firewall like Zonealarm or Sygate0 -
Thanks for the help guys - I reinstalled the latest version of the online armor free firewall from their website everything seems fine
HOWEVER
The new Online Armor firewall didn't pass CPIL (Parent Injection Leak Test) Test - and unlike the old version I had, it doesn't ask me anymore when I should allow programmes to access the internet
This free version is lame!0 -
You could try Comodo has tons of features. Passes more leak tests than the free online armor and best of all doesn't cost a penny. http://www.comodo.com/0

Why? The Windows XP firewall provides the same firewall capabilities as most hardware routers (with NAT enabled) i.e. inbound stateful packet inspection . Some would say if you've already got a problem then sure the outbound firewall will pick it up but who'd feel safe knowing their system was compromised? I'd reformat at this point.
Have a read of http://ask-leo.com/is_an_outbound_firewall_needed.html and tell me if you agree / disagree...0 -

Well I wouldnt reformat, and id personally be MUCH happier with a firewall that tells me something is calling outwards
Unlike yours that could right NOW be calling outwards and you wouldnt know any different..................:idea:0 -
I use Online armor and its fine, i prefer it to comodo firewall,0

Online Armor is supposed to be the very best firewall. It crashed when I tried it though so decided to give it a miss.:idea:0

The point is if you focus on preventing the nasty men coming in, preventing anything inbound then you won't need any outbound checking.
Did you read leo's article?0 -
David. No I didnt (Too tired if anything)
I have my reasons for NEEDING an outbound. I know where your coming from but nothing you say or indeed ANY article I read is going to change my mind on the subject:idea:0
