Will a 4lb turkey breast be enough?

I have a 4lb turkey breast in my freezer, all breast no stuffing. Will it be enough to feed 10 on xmas day. There will be 6 adults (if DH home from hospital) 1 starving pre-teen DS, DD and 2 nephews won't eat much. we will have the usual bits for dinner, roasts, pig in blanket etc.

I have an 800g (1 and 3/4lb) one which says it will feed 3-4, so I think a 4lb one would feed about 8-10 people. Of course it depends on how much turkey you give to each person, and how much stuffing etc. Ours is just breast meat and I have chipolatas, stuffing (two types), veg, roasties, mash, gravy all going with it, and this is to serve 3 adults and 18 month old.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

4lbs is pushing it slightly for 10 people, but should be OK provided there are lots of trimmings. That's what trimmings were always supposed to be for anyway, bulking up so there was plenty for everyone.0

Think of it like burgers.
4 pounds is 4x16 ounces = 64 ounces.
10 people, that's 6.4 ounces each. So one and a half 4oz burgers each.
If it's purely breast meat then 6.4oz per person would appear to be plenty imho.0 -
What no Boxing Day Turkey curry then?
:D
Happy Christmas.

By the time it cooks out you will be lucky to get 5 portions out of it. Why not buy an extra turkey or meat joint the prices are so cheap now . It would be a shame to ruin Xmas dinner for the sake of a few extra £'s.

Think I will get another breast, will cook them both that way we will definately have enough. Best to have too much than not enough. i can always freeze the leftovers.0

Just to throw in another alternative ... a nice honey-glazed ham makes a very nice addition to turkey and provides some variety in flavours. Most supermarkets supply hams in all sizes, pre-cooked and uncooked.
And as others have said, plenty of trimmings ... small sausages in bacon, chestnut stuffing, buttered parsnips, bread sauce (my favourite), melt-in-your-mouth roast potatoes, yorkshire puds, cranberry sauce etc.etc. ......
Oh gawd! I think I've just given myself a coronary :rotfl:

Showed the mother-in-law the turkey breast she reckons it will feed us all as I am doing all the trimmings and some gammon. 3 of the kids with onlt eat the sausages.0
