What if you dont want a laptop and just want a PC to sit beside the TV ?

    These are ideal for that

This is exactly why i purchased this machine, with a HDMI connection giving a full 1080p output it is ideal to use as a media player / pc
  • Hi Superking,

you say the machine is an ideal media player. Can you tell me, is the machine very quiet?
does it have any fans? i'm really after something totally silent.

also, can it decode h264 @ 1080p in real time?
  • Any laptops in the £300-£350 price range where I can also take out an extended warantee? :)

The Dell Studio Hybrid has a small case fan (approx 2” diameter) that is fairly quiet although not totally silent. In my opinion it is a very acceptable level of noise for a PC which is totally inaudible whilst playing back media files.

So far I have only had time to play a few sample h264 1080p files and it seems to handle them very well using PowerDVD 8 and viewed through a Sony KDL-46W4500.

I would like to try some larger or full length feature 1080p files but have not had much luck locating freebies on the web.

Overall I am very happy with this machine as I wanted a small form factor PC that had a HDMI output that would play most media files and did not look out of place in the living room.

Does anyone know if the Bennetts 10% offer is still avalable, as I can't see anything using that link?

If not, any other good laptop deals? Thanks.
