Help with son

Hi can anyone please help me, I dont know what to do. I orginally come from N.Ireland. I had to leave `12 years ago because my ex husband made my life hell. My son who is 17 ran off to live with him in jan and here we are we 12 months down the line and its like living with the father again. My son has add and he is very agressive he texts me with threatning texts just like his father did. Social services wont help me and the police say there is nothing they can do. He needs help because he is sick mentally. The father tormented him for years saying he could live with him, when it came to the bit and he went there he was told he couldnt live with him. No-one over there will help me and I dont know what he will do next. Funny thing is his father wanted this all along because I left but now he doesnt want the boy.

Please someone help me I am at my witts end.

  • Hi. I've just joined this. Did you get sorted out ok. You can get a non molestation order to stop your son sending you offensive texts. The Police will follow up if he breaches order. Usually a caution at first followed by firmer action. You would have to make statements against son. Hope you're able to resolve matter.
  • As your boy is 17, there is probably nothing the police can do as nothing illegal has been done. Social Services seem to be your only hope.. and from the sounds of it they have been pretty useless. Try writing to Social Services as opposed to calling... try to find out names of managers and write to them directly.... and keep writing... maybe ask for a meeting with them face to face to discuss your case???

Sounds like your son is being "brainwashed" by your ex.... sad really... even moreso if he has A.D.D.

Don't give up and try to stay positive and just make sure your there for him incase he is abandoned by his father again....

    Good Luck

  • Kathya,

Just a thought. You won't help your son if you offer to take him back to live with you. The agencies will drag
their heels and let you deal with him on your own.
Your son will not get any help if he is living with you
but I think you know this already.
  • Hi Kathya, I am so sorry love to read about what is going on. I can't give you any advice but I do hope someone can. It must be an awful situation for you. I send you a big hug and my best wishes.xx

Hi thanks to everyone, been a very difficult weekend for me. He turned 18 on Sat the first birthday without him, it hurt so much. I have been to the specialist and he says there is absolutely nothing we can do until he realises that he needs help. If he had epilepsy or something else he would have someone to help. My family have tried in Ireland he has thrown it back in their faces. The sad thing in all of this he text me to ask why I didnt send him a birthday card. How sad is that. I am ok trying to get through this diificult time. Bad year for me, my dog died after 13 years, ill health and to top it all my partners mother died in November. I just want to run away from it all it is a nightmare at the mo. I am sure it will get better I just cant see it unfortunately. Happy christmas to you all thanks for listening x
