Scart lead rip off

When you buy a digibox you often have to buy a SCART lead as these are often not included with the box. Check the price before you add it to your basket. I have just visited several electrical suppliers Comet PC World etc and the cheapest was 14.99 I bought one in ASDA for only £1.99. It seems to me that although the big retailers may offer Best Buys for the bigger items they will often rip you off for the odds and ends.

You got off lightly there. A lad a work bought a new flat LCD TV in Comet and they tried the £40 scart lead trick on him.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -
Prices can vary for Scarts and component leads as I paid £20 for my scart lead from Richer Sounds as it is better quality that just the cheap ones but it depends on how much you want to spend as some cables are made to a better standard and give you better results but it is only worth getting expensive leads if you have a very good AV setup otherwise I don't think you would notice the difference on a normal TV and DVD player0

I sometimes stroll round PC world when I'm at a loose end. I never buy anything from there. For the last 12 months they have had a box of 1m USB cables by the door to remind me why. £14.99 each! They are only 59p at Ebuyer.0

I have to admit I don't know much about Scarts and other techie stuff, but I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that not all Scart leads have all the pins connected - might be something to check.

Be a little bit careful of the cheaper SCART leads.
Occasionally they can cause a "ghosting" effect when used with certain dvd players/ recorders or sky boxes.( you can see the faint outline of another channel whilst watching the tv) I had all sorts of problems with a cheap Scart lead once.
Apparently its something to do with the shielding on the cable.
Sometimes the cheap ones are fine, but please be aware that they can be a false economy.0 -
Prices vary a lot for scart leads and the cost (should) directly relate to quality. the better ones use gold plated connections, thicker cable and shielding to reduce RFI = Radio Frequency Interference which some people refer to as ghosting or crosstalk.
Even Argos have cables ranging from£3.25 to £18
Personally i have never bought a top end cable and only once found a problem with a cheap cable.0
