Intelligent Finance...help on charges.

Having requested a mortgage holiday and being refused as we have another charge against the property (is there anyway round this) we then missed the payment as we were all geared up for the mortgage holiday. They advised us it was a no go a week before the DD date.
So then we get the letter, the letter advises they will charge us £120.00 per letter and £50.00 per phone call....is this OK as they seem so high! We have paid and not had another letter but if we were to have had a letter I feel £120 is ridiculous! Having been away we have had 4 missed calls from them, will we get charged for these?

It is high but the charges are commonplace. The £50 charge for calls that did not connect (e.g. engaged or no-one in to answer) is pushing it and I would pursue a complaint against those and go to the FOS if necessary on the basis that you shouldnt have to pay for phone calls that didnt actually take place and didnt know were going to take place and charging you for these isnt treating customers fairly.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I.F. could bankrupt many of us if they charge £50 for a missed call. Contact The Citizens Advice Bureau to offer more advice.
These charges are 'astronomical '. This is an unwarranted state of affairs given the national stake in RBS.

Look out the original paperwork you rcvd from IF, somewhere in there will be a list of charges.
Even if the list of charges include £50 a phone call, to charge for calls that get no answer is ridiculous. Some systems are set up to redial every 2 minutes, so if you were out for an hour you could get 30 calls! Nowhere in the terms and conditions will it say that if you miss a payment you have to sit by your phone all day!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The OP hasn't said he was charged! His question is "would I be"? Why make a presumption he would be?0 -
Good spot feisty. Most of us read it as "has been" and not "what if"I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
