I doubt it. Fixed rates are tending to get cheaper, but tracker margins have just continued to get larger, and with base rate predicted to fall further I would not be surprised if we end up with the norm being close to 3% above base rate.

What pressures do you think there will be in the next 6 months that will lead to cheaper mortgages?

I am no expert but I think as the lending criteria tightens up and property prices drop meaning more people will have the correct deposits there will be more movement in the mortgage market thus creating some competition which will bring some better deals.

However I could be completely wrong like my ex-wife keeps telling me!
