garmin i3 satnav staples buyers be quick price match time

I will post this seperatly due to the time limit and also so it doesn't get swallowed up in the other two threads.

If you bought your Garmin i3 from Staples on or around the 27th for £129.99 either buy one from Somerfield for £99 or find a store that has some in stock and go to your Staples branch with either info or receipts, ask them to do a 30 day price match and they will refund you the £30 plus 10% of the new price which is £170 so in all you will get back £37.00 which I got today.

If they say its only 14 days then they are wrong, its 30 days on non computers. The reason for this is you can get a full refund upto 30 days with no reason for return.

They have to be in stock at £99, when I asked they rang my local Somerfield who didnt have any left but luckily I had already bought one so was able to get my refund. Then when you get your pricematch take the other one back to Somerfield or sell it on.

Thanks...am now heading off to the store in person as I was refused the price match over the phone because I'd bought it on the 27th Dec (and therefore over the 14 days). Wish me luck!

Phew! Am now back from Staples. The manager (i think he was the manager - looked quite old and senior) repeated what I was told over the phone about the price match being within 14 days only and when I elaborated about that being for computer related items only he said that the asterisk next to the price match policy on the receipt clearly states within 14 days only. He said I could also have a refund if I wanted to.

So after some thought I decided to get my money back as I've only used it once since I bought it. So I'm quite happy with the outcome.

I'm sure there are stores who will and have price matched it without much thought, I think I was just unlucky this with one (store was in Tottenham Hale btw). Definately worth a go anway.

I brought a Garmin from Somerfield today... Does this mean I would have been better off buying at Staples with their price match? Would I be better off taking the Somerfield one back and going to Staples? I can't see that if I take my receipt to Staples, they will just give me the 10% in cash without selling anything....

most stores only match price IF THE ORIGINAL STORE HAS ANY IN STOCK!

as most sommerfields sre out of stock now, there is little chance that ANY retailer will match... but theres no harm in tryin ?? he he !!

When I got mine there were about 4 Garmins left. Will they price match if I dont buy from Staples? I dont quite understand how it works??? Do I need to take mine back to Somerfield and buy from Staples to get the price match plus 10% difference or will Staples just give you the 10%?? For example even if Somerfield had none in stock, they would when I took mine back so Staples cannot say they have none.... Hope I'm not missing the point here?!

see if somerfield have any in stock for £99. then go to staples and buy one from them. Then go back to somerfield and buy one for £99. then go to staples and ask for a pricematch and show the receipt from somerfield, they will give you £77 back, then take the one back to somerfield for a refund. you will end up with a garmin for £93

If you haven't already bought one from Staples, it's a lot of effort for £6.00

Better if you know a Somerfield employee and get one for £89.10 (10% staff discount)!!!

It'd cost me more than £6 trying to go backwards and forwards between the two stores!
  • i got two pricematched in staples yesterday and i had a £10 voucher to use up so even better. and my mate got one too.
so staples were ligt to the tune of £240 on those deals...
its a sad sad world for big business, oooh i weep for them.

it's a really nice piece of kit too, a bit basic but a great intro to the world of SAT NAV.
