Employment Tribunal and Mediation!!!

Am i being given the wrong advice? I am taking my ex employer to tribunal over sex discrimination and health and safety issues that resulted in me leaving my job. I was advised by my solicitor to go for mediation, which i agreed to and today she decided to tell me that because i had agreed to this my tribunal would be put back. My reply was i would rather go to tribunal as it meant that it would all be over in January. She told me that if i backed out now that the other side could claim costs against me for wasting their time.

At this point the date had not even been set for mediation there was a telephone call this afternoon sorting that. If we dont come to a resolution at the mediation date then we set a date for the tribunal, ironincally the mediation date is right in the middle of when my tribunal should of been. Im angry that she didnt tell me this could happen. All along i have told her I am prepared to go to tribunal and lose rather than take the money and get no answers. Also I didnt want it to be dragged out as this has been going on since April.

I was let down by the company i worked for right up to the area manager that i reported problems to. I was told in August I would have an answer to my grievance appeal in 3 weeks I am still waiting. I have been told not to expect an answer now. Surely this is wrong. If I go to tribunal wont they be made to at least answer why they didnt investigate or act if it is found I am justified in my claims. If I settle in mediation stage it becomes all about money and they then dont have to even bother answering my appeal this has been going on since April. Am i being pig headed by wanting some answers.

Any advice appreciated!!!
