So, browsing the local Asda the other day I wondered how they can charge different prices for the same cuts of meat.
I stood, in one hand a Smart Price Pork joint. The other hand a Asda Pork joint both similar in weight but a considerable difference in price.
I looked at the codes, both slaughtered in the UK. Different farms I might add.
So whats the difference?

I would assume the cheaper joint has more added water, salt and preservatives?
Should say on the label. Also often different grades of meat, though all have to meet set standards.
Personally I buy outdoor reared pork either from supermarket finest ranges or local butchers, but I am fussy like that!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500
