Frozen Turkey

My freezer recently blew up and we are now without one (it was the oven last Christmas and the TV two Christmases before that!). Anyway as it looks like turkeys may be in short supply this year, I was wondering, if I bought a frozen turkey at the weekend how quickly after it had defrosted would I have to cook it. Would really like to cook it Christmas Day.
I've priced fresh ones up this year and their not in my price range I am afraid which is a shame because I always try to buy my meat throughout the year from my local butcher.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

If you can keep it in a cool place (depending on the sze of the bird) it should take about 48 hours to defrost. If you then put it into the fridge, it'll be fine to cook next Thursday
I'll add this to Defrosting Turkey later to keep ideas togetherwe may be having more questions on this in the next week
