Absolute minimum salary

What is the absolute minimum salary a company can pay if you work 37.5 hours per week and get 20 days holiday for someone over 22?

Is it £11173.50?

i cant remember the national minimum wage but do minimum wage x 37.5 x 52. that would be the salary. i think 20 paid holidays is the minimum they have to give you when working full time.

The figure looks right using the minimum wage. If you're being paid less than that it may be due to the timing of pay rises and the setting of minimum wage though.

Most people seem to get their pay rise in April at the start of the tax year whereas the minimum wage changes apply from the October. A salary of less than that figure might be perfectly legal for this financial year if it works out that over the year you've been paid minimum wage (I've no idea how it works, I'm just looking for potential reasons). If you've started later in the year I would ask them if they realise it's below the minimum wage.


Incidentally though, how many days a week do you work? I thought they had to give you 4.8 weeks holiday (24 days for most) now, going up to 5.6 weeks (28 days) from April?

many companys will give you 24 days paid holidays if you work full time but will take so many days off you for xmas. this year i had 2 days taken out of my allowance for 29th and 30th december. so the place doesnt have to open between xmas and new year.

Yes, but there is "holiday" and "HOLIDAY" - many people do not reffer to the statutory bank holidays as their holiday entitlement.. BUt the fact is that those do add into the figure given by government...
The OP has to explain whether the 20 days is including or excludin statutory bank holidays..

I'm talking about after it is reviewed and it's 20 days holiday + 8 days bank holidays and I work Mon-Fri, so there aren't any complications with bank holidays like there would be if someone worked Tues-Sat.

i work mon - fri 37.5 hrs per week and get government minimum holidays. this doesnt affect your minimum annual income. but im not on minimum wage and im only 20

Then they are giving you correct amount of holidays.
Otherwise the rate for workers aged 22 or over is £5.73 per hour. £11 173.50 annualy
