Help! What to buy 14yr old boy?

Hi, my son is 14yrs old and says he doesn't want anything for christmas.
What is everyone else buying their 14yr old boys for christmas?
I am desperate for ideas.

  • Hi

I am the proud owner of a 14 year old boy also!

He is hard to buy for, his little sister and brother have loads of stuff and I activley have to stop myself buying more for them when I'm out but my eldest is a nightmare. So far he has

    a video camera
    sd card for video camera
    multi-card reader for his laptop
    a dustbuster (!)
    pyjamas
    underwear

and that's it. I've convinced him he wants new jeans from santa but I'm really stuck for little things.

I don't suppose I've helped much but at least you know you're not alone!

Alas he doesn't seem to want one of those either!

I think I will just have to give him money.

    Thanks for your replies.

  • If he isn't into gifts, I wouldn't buy him stuff just for the sake of it.I would try to think of something else, maybe offer to paint his bedroom, would he be more interested in a trip or going to do an activity somewhere.

    +1

Time spent is infinately valued more than gifts with most kids.

  • If he's 14, I'd get him HMV vouchers - let him pick himself from music, films, games, books, T-shirts etc.

We bought or friends 3 boys clothes for Xmas (never saw them on!) until they were 13 - since then we buy HMV vouchers - always well received.

I agree with the time thing. My nearly 14 year old has a list of computer and console games as long as your arm which he would like (not saying he's going to get them) but he's also asked for a basket ball and a mess tin for his Scout camps.......
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
