How much pastry?

Hi, I've a vegetarian Brie and Mushroom recipe that uses frozen puff pastry which I've done every year, but I want to make my own this time.
The recipe asks for a 12 oz packet. Will this be a total weight of all the ingredients do you think? Or should I make it using 12oz of flour + the butter?
How long does pastry keep once it's been made? I usually make the recipe Christmas eve to cook Christmas day so if I could make the pastry earlier (ie the weekend) it would make life a bit easier!
I've not made puff pastry since school days (long long time ago:eek: ) but after watching Britains Best Dish and seeing how the judges commented on the difference, I'm going to have a go.
Thanks.

Hi 1sttimer,
My guess (and it is a guess) is that if it's asking for a 12 oz packet then this would be the weight of the finished pastry. Saying that, if you're going to the trouble of making puff pastry it might be worth making a little extra to make some other tasty Christmassy things too?
This thread has some hints and tips on making puff pastry that may help:
I want to make puff pastry. Am I mad?

I'd imagine that if the recipe says you need a 12oz packet, then that would be the total weight of pastry, not 12oz of flour plus fat. Good luck with the puff pastry making!0

If you make it with 12oz flour plus the butter and water the finished pastry will weight more than 12oz.0
