Some people who are wheat intolerant can tolerate spelt. This is wheat really, but a very old variety. So if removing all wheat products improves any symptoms you could try reintroducing spelt first and see how things go. You can make your own bread and other baked goods with spelt. In my experience it actually makes better tasting bread than many other wholewheat flours.

I had skin !!!!!! allergy testing done at the docs, which detected wheat allergy also several inahalants.

I would recommend your sister takes professional advice before self diagnosing.

aldi do an excellent rye + sunflower seed bread for about 60p, as other poster said,it's not worth trying to replate wheat products, better to just eat foods which naturally don't have wheat. I've not touched 'fake' wheat free pasta.expensive and looks vile.

Just to contradict myself, there's an excellent WF( poss also gf?) maple + pecan cake sold at tesco for about £1.39.

I've making wheat free curry turkey nuggets tonight.
turkey thigh pieces soaked in batter made with gram flour, flavoured with a blob <techinical term> of curry paste.
    then fry.

  • hhmmmmmm...... I think she might need more investigation. I've read that those who are diagnosed with a wheat allergy actually have another allergy e.g. a yeast allergy.

I have heard this too - I thought I may have a minor intolerance to wheat but perhaps it is yeast - for example if I have even just 2 or 3 beers I feel really bloated and uncomfortable, but then I like the German and Belgian wheat beers, so I am not sure if it's the wheat or the beer! I don't each much bread and occassionally pasta, pizza, etc but I don't think it's a problem each time I eat those foods so more likely to be the yeast?
