Bank of Ireland- Banking Online- for Businesses

Hi there
I am not sure if this is the right category but its about saving money and its NI related (although may be useful for any of you with own business)
I run my own business from home and received a letter from the Bank of Ireland telling me that i had to now pay for their archaic online facility! Its prob the worst online banking system that I have seen but they gave me an overdraft when i needed it, so have stayed with them
The charge to use this wonderful piece of technology is £10 per month which is quite scandalous (and im in overdraft at the moment so the less bills i have the better).
I phoned them up and I asked how do i not pay this- and they asked did i use it much and i said i didnt. So they have asked me to send a letter to my bank asking i be put down to 1A- which means I can view online but not use the facilities and thats for free (how big of them is that!!!!)
So times must be tight with the BOI and its good to see that in times of economic upheaval the banks are more than happy to slap extra charges on small business!
And this charge is ontop of my quarterly charges, that charges me for everything I use the account for- so usage was hardly free in the first place (charges on direct debits, cheques, BACs, admin charges, etc)
So am away to write my letter and get in the post asap!!

This is awful
you should really think about moving banks. Have to say nationwide's online services are fantastic, I don't know about charges for business customers but have always found them very helpful.0 -
My bank has charged me a couple of times for silly stuff aswell.
I did a search and noticed that Barclay's bank offer free business banking but i only can find 1 branch here in belfast..
nozzadamozza , £10 a month for this interent service is shocking!!. I think we get our Visa machine cheaper per month than that at the moment.0 -
Thanks max5heads and belfastgirl23- i know- its shocking  - the site is awfully dated and theres probably less passwords needed to get into the whitehouse!!
I have sent them a letter to cancel this immediately and want to move bank but am a couple of grand in the red- so once i get it cleared, Im sooo moving0 -
Be prepared for more charges from the banks.
RBOS owner of the Ulster Bank gave away £400 Million to a fraudster/hedge fund.
Somebody is going to have to pay for this ineptitude
