boogellyboo - Thank you, I also asked on the beginners card making forum and was advised the same a you've just said. I mostly wing it too but was scared of spoiling the embossing folders. Lucky you getting a craft robo I looked at them but as I'm just starting thought I'd better not!

LJM - Thanks for the idea of chalks I have some from my Mums' drawing days & will try that also.

    - when I get a bit of time to play - I haven't got going yet since Christmas!

Hi Madmam - Used it 'properly' for the first time yesterday to do a 'shelf' for the card I did for the challenge on the card making forum thread. It worked OK! All I've got so far are the stamp shapes that came with it & two embossing sets, one for page edges, the other I thought was just spots/bobbles but they turned out to be very tiny hearts which are nicer I suppose. I really wanted to be able to cut my own 'apetures' on card fronts but I've not got any suitable dies yet, they are expensive & I'm a bit scared of using other makes in case I break something! I'd really like an alphabet too but expensive.

How are you coping with yours? better than me I hope?
  • Hi Marg,

The cuttlebug is compatible with most of the other dies - did you get the instructions that tell you how to use other dies in your machine? I would have thought the worst that could happen would be cracked cutting plates.

I use the sizzix ordinary dies in mine and they work perfectly - you just have to make sure you use the correct plates and not force it.

I have 3 alphabets - all from eBay the cheapest one was from a US seller - the other 2 were about £23 each.

  • Forgot to mention if you sign up to the Ellison site (they make the sizzix dies) you'll get advised of their sales.

I just got a huge parcel of dies for £23 - the large sizzix ones were £2.45 each.

Hello Paddingtondoo - Thank you for the advice - there are a couple of dies & even an alphabet I like the look of in the sale - shame they haven't got the sizes on some of them
Hello Madmam - Thank you for your kind offer in your pm will send reply asap

    Thanks both once again
  • Which ones are they? I may be able to help with some of the sizes it depends which dies they are.
