    I've had trouble for some time understanding this "nice places aren't for sale / on the market" or "nice places don't drop in price". Can't see it in my neck of the woods.

    Have a look at this house, for example:

    Looks pretty OK to me. Large Georgian house, large rooms, lots of them, all sorts of swanky gadgets.

    Went on at £3.55 million in September, dropped to £3.2 million in October, and then again to £2.8 million in November. Now under offer. Quite big reductions in asking price there - 20% off.

    Your neck of the woods is pretty special though NDG :) Thats probably a doss hole to a lot of the buyers at that end of the market :)

    This place has just come on the market in the last couple of months. An 18th century barn and oast house with attached cottage and 4.5 acres of land, outbuildings, and all the rest of it:

    Or this one, a 3 bed detached house with 13 acres, and oast house, stables, hay barn, greenhouses, barns, ponds, etc Originally put on the market for £965k in March, now down to £825k:

    All these have either just come on, or been on a while and dropped in price. Hard to see how any is not "nice".
