  • NuTool make a lot of company's own brand powertools, so they're probably made in the same place. Obviously 18v is not as powerful as 24v, but it depends what you're looking for.

Thanks Katie. Mainly hanging things on concrete walls!

Yes, they both only come with 1 battery which is very annoying when you have to stop work and wait for hours while they recharge.

This is a good deal for one with 2, 1 hr charge batteries, just bought one myself.

Thanks Alan, but at twice the price of the 18v Tesco offer, I'd take the option of having a few beers while it charges!

I've got a non-hammer cheapie and haven't had a problem of charge running out. I don't do THAT much drilling!

I assume your 18v is adequate? Think that means it's Tesco for me - if they've got them in stock locally!

    :D sounds reasonable to me

18v is fine but i wouldnt go below that for a hammer drill.
  • Try Toolstation.com, They Got Some Reasonable Kit.
It Depends On What You Want To Do With It. Do You Want It Too Last A Long Time, Or Not Bothered Wether You Use It Twice And It Breaks. Silverline Drills At Toolstation Have Three Years Warranty. There Not The Best But There Cheap And If They Do Conk Out You Can Get A Replacement Or Your Money Back Within Three Years.

I have to say stay clear of Nutool and PowerDevil, obviously I would say that as I work for the company who manufacture the Challenge 24v.

To be honest you are getting a bargain here for £25 these were selling at £49.95. We also sell "spare" batteries if that second battery is really needed.

Yep, that was the decision! It was the 1 hour charge that sold it. The Power Devil quoted 5 hours.

It's unlikely to get lots of use, and I'm not the sort to plan ahead and have it all charged up! So 1 hour of beer drinking sounds just about right!

Out of interest, what's the going rate for a spare battery? A colleague, this afternoon, suggested that batteries at the cheaper end of the market don't tend to last too long?
  • Hi LesD

If you give us a shout I will give you our number so that we can discuss a price for the battery, now that they have been reduced in Argos I will give you a good price.
